Before Profile: I have worked in many aspects of the education sector for over 35 years now, along with a few years working in medical microbiology hospital and research lab roles. My first foray into education after leaving the sixth form was 8 years working as an instructor in outdoor education, and then 15 years in a variety of school middle management roles in schools across the south-east. These include initially being a post-16 learning mentor, then progressing to Student Services Manager, then moving slightly sideways into university marketing for a year or so. I am the proud father of 22-year-old daughter who I see most weekends, and hobbies and interests include cats, long beach walks, gardening and barbequing when the weather allows.
Why I joined Profile: I have been working in the independent training and apprenticeships sector since moving to Thanet from Greenwich 12 years ago, initially purely in business development roles, but have since progressed back into management.
What I do: My role here at Profile over the last year has been varied. But currently I line manage all departments, but also coordinate business development and new projects, along with facilitating outreach and community apprenticeship marketing and awareness events. I am the direct reporting link between our management team and directors and ultimately I am responsible for the overall high quality and effectiveness of our training and administration teams
Quality and Curriculum Manager
Quality and Curriculum Manager
Before Profile: I started my Early Years career in childcare in 2003 as a childminder and gained an 'Outstanding' award from OFSTED. After several years, I progressed to a career with the NCMA (now PACEY) as a Quality Improvement Partner in preparing childminders for OFSTED inspections working within the EYFS framework. I delivered individualised support on enhancing childminding provisions and provided bespoke training. I have achieved a Level 5 Diploma in Teaching in the Lifelong Learning Sector (DTLLS) and a Degree BA in Early Years.
Why I joined Profile: I previously worked for a training provider that worked with Profile on some joint ventures and then moved officially to Profile in 2015 bringing a few employees and learners with me. I knew immediately that I have made the right move and fitted into the Team.
What I do: After being here for the past 10 years I have moved from assessor to Internal Quality Assurer (IQA), from Programme Lead in Early Years to the role of Quality and Curriculum Manager. I work with our tutors across all programmes to support development and to improve the quality of the programmes and meet Ofsted requirements. I monitor learner progression and support tutors in providing the best support throughout your apprenticeship.
Advice for Learners: Communicate with your tutor if you are struggling. We all have many years of experience and have a wealth of advice that we can depart to help you through your apprenticeship. There is pretty much nothing we have not seen over our years. We want the best for you and will get you through.
Senior Centre Administrator, Leadership Team
Senior Centre Administrator, Leadership Team
Before Profile: I worked as an insurance claims handler in various departments and worked my way up to a team leader/manager during the 13 years I worked there. I left that position to explore other opportunities and to build upon my own business that sparks my passion, which is providing affordable and fun group exercise classes.
Why I joined Profile: I joined Profile on a part time fixed term contract maternity cover back in 2021 as an admin assistant, because I needed something that would work alongside running my own business and would work around school runs and family life. I was also keen to learn more about the education sector and take on a new challenge as I love learning new things. My position has grown from there and I now work full time and am on the leadership team, I am still able to un my group exercise classes 2 evenings a week and work around family life and school runs.
What I do: My role is to ensure that Profile Development and Training are compliant with the relevant funding rules and that all of our reporting is correct so that the correct funding is received and that all paperwork is completed in a timely manner for all new learners. I also manage the admin team and participate in the leadership team, ensuring that any administration tasks are completed efficiently and that our processes are updated whenever required.
Advice for Learners: Before your learning journey can begin with Profile there is a set of paperwork to be completed. It is important to log in to your Profile account regularly once it is set up to ensure that you have completed all of the required actions. If you are on an apprenticeship then there will also be paperwork to complete for your employer at the same time. We appreciate that this is a busy time and we are here to support you through the process, so if you are ever unsure just contact us. There will also be paperwork to sign throughout your apprenticeship so logging in to your account regularly is a good habit to get into right from the start.

Teaching Assistant, and HLTA Tutor
Before Profile: After finishing school and feeling uncertain about which career path to pursue, I came across the Profile apprenticeship website and decided to apply. This marked the beginning of my journey in education. I started with a Level 3 Apprenticeship in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools. As I gained hands-on experience in the classroom, I developed a deeper interest in the field, which led me to enrol in the Childhood Studies Foundation Programme at Canterbury University. Building on that foundation, I went on to complete a Master’s degree in Global and International Education.
Why I joined Profile: I have been working at Profile since 2021 as a tutor, delivering Level 3 Teaching Assistant apprenticeships and Level 4 Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) qualifications. My journey in education began with Profile, where I started as an apprentice. This opportunity enabled me to work with children across multiple schools in Thanet, helping them reach their full potential. Now, I’m proud to give back by sharing my knowledge and experience to help train and inspire the next generation of teaching assistants.
What I do: My role at Profile as a Tutor consists of teaching and supporting learners and preparing apprentices for their End-Point Assessments.

Before Profile: I was a Customer Service Apprentice working with the elderly which I absolutely loved. It really helped me build my confidence and opened my eyes to many opportunities. When that ended, I started looking for suitable opportunities for me and my disability.
Why I joined Profile: they were offering a Level 3 Business Administration Apprenticeship, and I applied. I learnt so much both professionally and personally. I then became a full-time qualified member of the Profile Team after qualifying. After starting my family, I am now back as a happy part-time member of the Profile Team.
What I do: I mainly deal with apprentice recruitment. If you are an apprentice, I more than likely read your application when you were applying and put you through to the employer to shortlist!
Advice for Learners: If I could give all apprentices and learners out there some advice, it would be to make the most of this opportunity, let it expand your knowledge, grow your confidence and enjoy learning! But always be true yourself and don't be afraid to ask questions. It's good to be happy in your job role, just also be professional!

Before Profile: Since graduating from UCA Farnham, I’ve had an appreciation for education - though I lean towards the creative - learning and teaching new skills to others has been something I thrive on. I’ve had many strings to my bow, from working in a care home to lecturing for Illustration and Animation courses to Creative Marketing. Because of these varying roles, I have developed a vast set of transferable skills and knowledge.
Why I joined Profile: I first joined as a Tutor/Assessor, marking level 2 courses, creating informative educational videos and assessing Functional Skills Speaking and Listening examinations – I loved the multiple jobs and being part of the team. After a period of leave and starting my own family, I returned to the profile team in 2024 as a part-time Centre Administrator.
What I do: I assist in sending out the ‘start paperwork’, doing behind the scenes bits for the administration team, as well as managing the Profile In the Know channels.
Advice for Learners: be open for discussion and reflection. It’s a great way to self-analyse and shake off imposter syndrome. It develops your confidence as we can learn from mistakes and the knowledge of others who might have done something different to ourselves in the same situation.
